Bild 7 | Prepare banks (pictures 1, 2 and 6):
- 1.– Flatten surface, remove rough stones, expose topsoil (ca. 10 – 15 cm)
- 1.– Dig trenches at the top and bottom of the bank.
Lay down Terra-Pro® erosion protection mats:
- 1.– Lay the Terra-Pro® erosion protection mats and webbing in the trenches and anchor the ends of the mat in the trenches (pictures 3 and 6).
- – Roll out the Terra-Pro® erosion protection mats and webbing either vertically or horizontally, the mats should overlap by a minimum of 20 cm vertically and 30 cm horizontally, the primary wind direction and the direction of rain water run-off flows should be taken into account.
- - – Vertical installation:As an example, if the main wind direction goes from right to left – the mats should be laid from the left side of the bank to the right side of the bank.
- - – Horizontal installation:(Roofing tile principle) the mats should be laid either from top to bottom, with the following row pushed about 30 cm under the top layer, or the mats can be laid from bottom to top, with each consecutive row over-lapping the previous by 30 cm.
- 1.– Anchoring the mat (picture 5): depending on the inclination of the bank, use 200 mm, 300 mm or 400 mm steel anchors (see pattern below).
- 1.– After anchoring the mats, fill in the trenches and tamp the earth down (pictures 3, 4 and 7).
- – In order to promote seed growth when using Terra-Pro® seed mix mats, a thick layer of fertiliser should be spread over the top (max. 1 cm).
- 1.– Until the mat has been covered with an even layer of grass, it should be watered consistently in order to ensure that there is no mildew and that the seedlings to not dry out.
